Differences Between a Commercial and Residential Contractor
1 – Commercial Building Codes are quite different from Residential Codes and in Wisconsin; commercial contractors need to be licensed. I think commercial codes are more restrictive than residential codes due in large part to public safety. Be sure to ask for the license number of your commercial contractor.
2 – Commercial building materials are also different, ranging from steel studs to 5/8” gypsum or abuse resistant dry wall, commercial cabinets, fire suppression, etc.
3 – A good commercial builder will be very aware of the importance of getting a client into a building ASAP so that client can begin to generate revenue. Along the same line, good commercial builders will work at nights and weekends to keep the client open and operating.
